About

The People’s Panel on Policing is an initiative created in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd to provide independent oversight of the policing function of local government in Rockland County, New York. Maladministration of law enforcement can wrongfully take lives, liberty and damage the psyche of citizens, particularly Black, Indigenous and People of Color, perpetuating a racial caste system in our county that is an affront to the notions of equality that must be the unshakeable foundation of any legitimate system of government.

The panel will seek to influence the proceedings outlined in Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order #203 and educate the public by conducting fact finding hearings and issuing a public report prior to April 1, 2021.
